[Moc Chau] Planning Tips For Cauliflower Flowers

Located around 200 km from the West of Ha Noi, Moc Chau is the biggest district in Son La province. If you ever have a chance to visit this mountainous zone in November-December, you will be astonished by the beauty lies in those cauliflower flowers under the misty fog curtain.

1/Ideal Time for Cauliflower Flowers in Moc Chau:

In the beginning of winter (November – December), cauliflowers blossom in the highest degree. Tourists can catch a glimpse of stretching meadows or even valleys of them among green highlands, just like those cinematic scene in Hollywood movies.

If you haven’t got a chance to travel in winter, you can still go to Moc Chau for other festivals around the year. Before Lunar New Year in February, people come here to observe peach flowers (hoa mận). As for March, there is variegata flowers (hoa ban) season. The Mong ethnic minorities will celebrate their Independence Festival in September.

2/How to Travel to Moc Chau:

Moc Chau district is in Son La Province, which is 180 km from Ha Noi. The most common route to Moc Chau is the National Road 6 heading towards Son La, Dien Bien. If you are a backpack enthusiast, you can go there by motorbike, starting from Nguyen Trai, Thanh Xuan street or Lang Hoa Lac Area through National Road 6. A non-stop trip from Ha Noi to Moc Chau takes 4-5 hours, and 6-7 hours for a trip with resting time.

Besides, you can go to Moc Chau by bus in My Dinh or Yen Nghia Bus Station. The ticket price for one seat is VND 170,000 (approx. USD 8.5) and for one bed is VND 230,000 (approx. USD 11.5).

In Moc Chau area, the ideal means of transportation is by motorbike: you can rent a motorbike at a hotel to be more flexible in exploring the place. The rental price varies from VND 150,000 – 200,000 (approx. USD 7.5 – 10 ) per day.

3/Where to Stay in Moc Chau:

There are 3 ways for you to stay overnight in Moc Chau: book a hotel room, set a camping site or homestay at local residences. The hotel price is VND 150,000 – 250,000 (approx. USD 7.5 – 12.5) per night in 3-star hotels. The highly-densed site of hotels are in Moc Chau city center and Agricultural Field town.

4/Cauliflower Flowers in Moc Chau:

1.Agricultural Field town

There are two large flower fields here. The first one lies in the Dining 70 restaurant, 181 and Truong Giang hotel area. The second one is a smaller field which is 100 meters away from Truong Giang hotel.

2.The area near Bua Village, Dong Sang Ward

Follow the instructions below and you will find the way lead to white cabbage flower as a piece of cake:

-Turn to the alley opposite the Huong Sen hotel (near the traffic lights)
-When reaching the end of the alley, turn left.
-Keep walking for 50 meters until you meet the first intersection point, turn right and walk straight to the end.

3.Thung Cuong/Thong Cuong Village

This is a Mong minority tribe, lies between Dong Sang ward of Moc Chau and Xuan Nha ward of Van Ho. The path leading to Thung Cuong contains vast valleys of cauliflower flowers.

4.Ang village in Dong Sang ward

Cabbage flowers grow mostly in pine forest in Ang village, which makes this place an idea spots for honeymoons and photographing.

5.Pa Phach village

This village is called ‘flower paradise’, which can pretty much portraited the mesmerizing beauty of it. The amazing flower meadows will greet your eyes with its upmost beyond horizontal line beauty.

5/Notes:                                                               

– Do not damage the flowers.

– Recommended photography spots: five colored flowers, ‘crab’ flowers grew among grasses

– Besides cauliflowers, the tea hills in Moc Chau is also beautiful. The heart-shaped hills are in Agricultural Field town, on the way of going to Ngu Dong – Ban On. This way can be called green way, and you should rent a motorbike for sightseeing.

– After cauliflower season, peach flowers will take place and show its grace starting from the end of January.

What should be prepared before going to Moc Chau ?

– Clothes: There are 4 ‘seasons’ in a day at Moc Chau – sunny at daytime, but breezing cool at nights, so remember to bring warm clothes.

– Shoes: Since it is a mountainous area, running shoes will be recommended. 

– Backpacking necessities: If you want to go camping, remember to bring tents and personal hygiene stuff.

– Medicine: Anti-insect spray bottles, stomach vials, bandages, vitamins, etc. must be prepared to deal with worst unexpected situations in the area with high humidity and lots of mosquitoes and other insects.

– Camera: Moc Chau is a nice place for photographing. Therefore, even you are not a professional photographer, you should have a decent digital camera or phone lens. There are enough scenery spots for you in Moc Chau and you would feel deeply regret if you do not have a nice camera with huge memory and charger.

[Hanoi] Four Places To Observe Daisy Flowers (Cuc Hoa Mi)

1/ TAY TUU GARDEN:

Tây Tựu Garden is the biggest place of planting flower in Hanoi. Situated in Bac Tu Liem District, 20 km away from center Hanoi, this large area plants many types of flowers. During daisy’s blooming time, many fields in the garden that only grow this type of flower. The whole area is totally in white, beautifully and imposingly.

How To Go:

Follow to Xuan Thuy direction (Cau Giay,) pass Cầu Diễn and get to the University of Industry (Đại học Công Nghiệp.) Then, go to Tay Tuu crossroads and turn right to the flower village.

Expense:

When coming to garden, you only need to buy a small bunch of flower, and then you can take as many pictures as you can. Tay Tuu does not offer photography service, so you do not have to pay money. However, before coming in, you need to ask for permission and be tender with these flowers.

2/ NHAT TAN FLOWER VILLAGE:

Located under Long Bien Bridge, Nhat Tan Flower Village is a familiar place of photoholics. In any season of the year, this flower village is always full of colorful flowers.

How To Go:

Departing from the inside of Hanoi, you can take the bus (number 55, 58, 31), get off at Nhat Tan crossroads, and then walk to the garden. Another way is to follow Au Co Street, turn at 264 Lane, and then pass by peach garden, kumquat garden to the garden.

Expense:

Price of taking photos at garden is from 30,000-50,000VND up to each garden owner.

3/ ROCK GARDEN OF RED RIVER:

Located near Nhat Tan Flower Village, Rock Garden of Red River with an area of 10 hecta is also a favorable place to take pictures.

How To Go:

From Nhat Tan Peach Garden, you need to go straight to the end of 264 Lane. Otherwise, you can choose bus 31, 33, 55 and 58 from center Hanoi to the Rock Garden of Red River.

Expense:

Entrance ticket price is about 50,000VND/ person, but it can be reduced for students.

The Rock Garden of Red River has a lot of romantic landscapes, so it will be a place to get your creativity going.

4/THAO NGUYEN HOA FILM STUDIO:

Thao Nguyen Hoa is located on Thach Cau, Long Bien Ward, opposite to Gia Lam Longan Garden.

How To Go:

From Long Bien embankment, follow Vinh Tuy Bridge for about 1,5 km, turn right to Thach Cau street for about 1km.

Expense:

With an entrance ticket costs 70,000VND/1 time, you can take pictures of many different types of flower, not only daisy in this studio.

In addition to the above-mentioned locations, it is not difficult to see many bouquets of daisy weave in the middle of Hanoi old quarter streets such as Thanh Nien – Thuy Khue, Phan Dinh Phung or Kim Ma, etc.

Saigon River Bus Map & Schedule

On November 25th, Saigon will hold a grand opening of the first-ever river bus route connecting Bach Dang Port (District 1)  with Linh Dong (Thu Duc District.)

Running along the Saigon River and Thanh Da Canal, the 30-minute bus trip will pick up passengers at 12 stops along the route which belong to District 1, District 2, Binh Thanh and Thu Duc Districts. There are five 75-seat river buses in operation – four active, one back up. Every day from 6:30 till 19:30, there will be 12 bus trips running along the 10.8km distance.

To welcome new passengers, during the first 10-day opening period, people can travel on river buses free of charge. After that, the bus ticket is charged VND 15,000/person/turn (apprx. USD 0.75).

Moreover, the investors propose to put electric cars in use for delivering tourists and residents from river bus stops to popular hotels, travel destinations and vice versa such as Ben Thanh Market, Nguyen Hue Walking Street, city museums, etc.

There are also proposals to open new river bus routes connecting Saigon center to 2 nearby neighborhoods like Cu Chi, Can Gio and Con Dao (Ba Ria – Vung Tau) in order to boost tourism and reduce traffic jam.

[Dalat] Pink Grass Festival | When & Where

Da Lat tourism has never been ceased to attract domestic and foreign tourists. When the blooming season of wild sunflowers has not yet passed, tourists can also enjoy  the picturesque hills filled with pink grasses in early morning.

Da Lat is located on the Langbiang Plateau at 1500 metres above sea level, where the climate is pretty mild all the time. Besides poetic landscapes, majestic waterfalls and breezing pine forests, Da Lat has lots of graceful flower types. Each season has its own specialty – mighty white of cauliflowers, regal yellow of wild sunflowers, dreamy purple of Poinciana, etc.  However, it is impossible not to mention the pink grass – a type of shrubs hidden under pine trees in the misty scene which makes tourist slow their paces to enjoy.

The ‘Da Lat’s Pink Grass Festival 2017’ (Mùa Hội Cỏ Hồng Đà Lạt,) hosted by Lam Dong province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism – is an exciting opening event for the 7th Da Lat Flower Festival on December 2017Da Lat’s Pink Grass Festival 2017 lasts for 11 days (November 24th – December 4th) at the pink grass hill near Đan Kia -Suối Vàng Lake (Lac Duong Ward) with no entrance fee.

The festival includes ‘The Pink Meadow Moments’ (Khoảnh khắc cỏ hồng”) (a photography competition for professional photographers nationwide); the ‘Selfie Moments’ (Khoảnh khắc selfie”) dedicated to young fellows who love taking selfie photos, the ‘Pink Sunday’ (Chủ nhật hồng”)  aimed for couples who get married in 2017; the ‘Meadow Paradise’ (Thiên đường hoa cỏ”) inviting tourists to see and take photos.
